Lemon Grass, Zacate de Limon (Cymbopogon citratus)
Part Used: Leaves and Shoots .
Uses: As a tea it aids digestion, reduces high blood pressure & treats urinary tract infections as it is a mild diuretic. Used for coughs and the common cold. Modern studies show it has anti-carcinogenic properties. It is uses in Ayurveda with black pepper in tea for menstrual disorders. It benefits the GI for colitis, indigestion, gastroenteritis .
Note: In aromatherapy, the essential oil is refreshing, active, stimulating, soothing. It can be diluted and used for fungal infections, excessive perspiration, scabies, skin/muscle toner, analgesic for muscle pain, poor circulation, headaches, nervous exhaustion, stress reliever, insect repellent for fleas, lice and ticks.
