Medicinal Plants: Lemon Grass

Lemon Grass, Zacate de Limon (Cymbopogon citratus)
Part Used: Leaves and Shoots

 As a tea it aids digestion, reduces high blood pressure
& treats urinary tract infections as it is a mild diuretic.
Used for coughs and the common cold. Modern
studies show it has anti-carcinogenic properties.
It is uses in Ayurveda with black pepper in tea for
menstrual disorders. It benefits the GI for colitis, indigestion, gastroenteritis

 In aromatherapy, the essential oil is refreshing,
active, stimulating, soothing. It can be diluted and
used for fungal infections, excessive perspiration,
scabies, skin/muscle toner, analgesic for muscle
pain, poor circulation, headaches, nervous
exhaustion, stress reliever, insect repellent for fleas, lice and ticks.
